Check Out This Peruvian Mountainside Hotel… If You Dare

Everyone loves a good vacation. It’s all about getting the heck out of dodge, getting out of your element, and experiencing something new. And there are literally thousands if not millions of places around the world that offer unique and interesting experiences that you can’t find wherever you happen to live. But Skylodge Adventure Suites in Peru just might take the proverbial cake. Why, you ask? Well, because it’s a hotel… on the side of a mountain.

That’s right. At this hotel for thrill seekers, you can stay the night in a window-heavy pod that has been suspended on the side of a mountain. So, if you’re not a big fan of heights, you’re probably going to want to skip this one. But if you’ve got the guts, it truly is an amazing experience.

The pods are made from high-tech aluminum that is normally used for planes and other aeronautic devices, are almost entirely transparent, and can sleep up to eight people. The views of the Sacred Valley below are simply incredible and make you feel like you are on top of the world. And you almost are.

The pods are roughly 1,300 feet up the side of the mountain. And it’s no picnic getting up to them, either. It’s quite the hike and even includes a hanging bridge that is roughly 600 feet high. And getting back down is an adventure in and of itself. Come check out time, guests get to fly over the Sacred Valley on a zip-line for the ages. But the amenities don’t stop there.

Many of you will be happy to hear that you won’t be “roughing it” when you stay at Skylodge. Each pod includes their own private bathroom, a quaint dining area, and four beds with surprisingly nice and comfortable mattresses. Your stay there also includes complimentary breakfast, dinner (wine included), and transportation to and from nearby Cusco.

Now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for… the price! It’s not the cheapest hotel ever and goes for $410 a night. But considering the incredible experience, I for one say it’s well worth it.
