Cruises are a very successful and popular vacation option that are enjoyed by millions every year. And while many cruises are all-inclusive, there are also plenty of options throughout the duration of a cruise for you to spend more money. But be careful – this is how they get you! You don’t want to come home from a cruise having mysteriously spend hundreds of dollars more than you thought you would. So follow these simple rules to avoid spending too much while enjoying your cruise.
BRING YOUR OWN WINE, SODA, AND SNACKS
Many cruises will allow you to bring on some of your own soda and snacks or even a full bottle of wine. So read up on what’s allowed on your cruise and take advantage by bringing just about as much as they’ll let you bring. Those small soda and snack purchases can really add up.
I know, I know. It’s so hard to live without our smartphones and laptops these days. But wifi can be very expensive on these cruises and it’s usually pretty bad wifi on top of that. So, if you have the willpower, try to enjoy the cruise without constantly logging on.
KNOW WHAT’S FREE
Most cruises have a lot of free stuff. Who doesn’t love free stuff?! Whether it’s a buffet, some soft serve, or even bigger amenities like games or classes, be sure you know what your cruise offers for free. This is a great way to avoid regular extra charges throughout your trip.
TRY NOT TO DRINK TOO MUCH
This one is tough, I know. Drinking as much as you like is one of the best parts of any vacation. But drinks can be very expensive on cruises. And there’s plenty of other fun stuff to be enjoyed. So try to keep the drinking to a minimum if you’d rather not spend a fortune while on vacation.
EXPLORE ON YOUR OWN
A lot of cruises will set their passengers up with various guided tours and excursions once they’re in port. But these are not included in the all-inclusive cost of admission. Who cares?! You don’t need no stinking tour guide. Explore on your own. That’s the best way to explore anyway!
AVOID THE CASINO!
Casinos are the easiest and quickest way to ruin your vacation. You can lose hundreds of dollars before even finishing your first overpriced drink. So unless you’re a professional gambler who rarely loses money, stay away from the casino at all costs! Trust me. The chances that you’ll lose a lot of money are just too high. And you can bet on that.
