The Top Items to Bring on a Cruise in 2022

So many people are tired of sitting at home, and are getting the travel bug due to many canceled trips over the past few years. This leads people to book trips around the world, including booking cruise accommodations. A cruise might look a little different than previous years, which is why three experts share what they feel you will need in order to have a safe and fulfilling cruise this year.

1)  Personal hand sanitizer & masks

This might be an obvious suggestion, but you can never be too safe when protecting yourself and others from germs and bacteria. You are sharing a large home on water with hundreds and thousands of people, so it helps to always have on you some sanitizer and to wear a mask in crowded areas.

There may be times when you are unable to find a bathroom to wash your hands when you are off the boat as well, so it helps to be prepared in case you need to give your hands a quick “wash”.

2)  Spare clothing for all weather conditions

The cruise ship you are on can vary in temperature, so it helps to bring extra layers to ensure you are comfortable. When traveling to a different country, it can also be tough to predict exactly what kind of attire to wear, and you don’t want to be washing all your clothes on the ship when you are trying to enjoy a vacation, suggests Felix Billington, owner and Tour Guide of Magellan Motorcycle Tours.

The best things to pack are lightweight, thin long sleeve shirts as well as a windbreaker you can easily throw into a bag. These items won’t take up much space in your suitcase or carry-on which allows you to bring quite a few.

3)  Mini board games

Glenn Sands, the managing director of Pixa Prints says, a full day of traveling on a cruise ship can be fun depending on what your ship has to offer in terms of entertainment. However, you might not want to leave your room every single night. It helps to pack mini travel board games that you can play in the privacy of your own cabin. Card games, Bananagrams and mini chess or checkers are great options!

4)  Probiotics

Everyone has experienced at one time or another the uncomfortableness of eating food you might not be accustomed to, or eating at different times of the day than you’re used to. This can really affect your body, and can cause stomach issues when traveling.

Taking probiotics with you on your cruise and ingesting them daily can help to combat the travelers belly, and prevent bad bacteria from forming that can cause stomach problems. It also helps to put good bacteria in your stomach which makes it easier to digest foods you might not be used to.

5)  Wrinkle release spray

Another great item to be sure to include on your trip is wrinkle release spray. This is such a helpful product to take with you since you won’t have access to an ironing board. Your clothes can be in a suitcase for up to two or more weeks when on a cruise, which means they are prone to becoming a little crumpled.

Ghana Sarfo of Snatched Body goes on to say that, wrinkle release spray works like magic to get your clothing looking its best which is perfect for traveling, and for those fancy attire nights on the cruise ship!

6)  Already worn shoes

I know many people tend to bring new footwear on a trip for pictures and certain events, but it actually takes time to break in most shoes. If you are only wearing a pair of shoes for the first time on your trip, you will probably end up with sore feet, blisters and bruises.

Especially for longer excursions off of the ship, you need shoes that you know are comfortable and long lasting. This will save your feet, and make your trip much more enjoyable.
