2. Simple and Delicious Chocolate Cheesecake

Chocolate and coffee are two of everyone’s favorite flavors. You can never have too much of a good thing, combine and you’ve got a showstopper dessert.

  • 1 ½ t of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of heavy cream

Ingredients for the Ganache:

  • 1 1/3 cups semi-sweet chocolate, chopped finely
  • 1 ¼ cups of heavy cream
  • ¼ cup of unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1 t espresso powder

Espresso beans and chocolate shavings to garnish

All ingredients should be at room temperature.

Method:

  1. Grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. Combine the Oreo cookie crumbs, butter, and espresso powder in a large bowl and mix well.
  3. Press the crust into the pan, pressing it down firmly, and place the crust in the freezer.

To Make the Filling:

  1. Fill a medium-sized pot one-third full with water and bring it to a simmer.
  2. Find a heatproof bowl that fits the top of the pan snugly and place it on top of the pan. It should not touch the water.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and add the chocolate to the bowl. Heat, stirring occasionally until the chocolate’s melted.
  4. Remove from the heat but leave the bowl of chocolate balanced on the pan. Stir in the espresso powder and set aside.
  5. Pulse the cream cheese in a food processor for about two minutes until smooth.
  6. Add the sugars and the cocoa powder. Beat until smooth.
  7. Add the heavy cream and vanilla and mix for about 20 seconds until just combined.
  8. Fold in the chocolate.
  9. Take the bowl out of the food processor and stir the filling with a rubber spatula until it’s evenly combined.
  10. Remove the crust from the freezer and pour the filling inside, smoothing the top.
  11. Transfer your cheesecake to the refrigerator.
  12. Leave to chill for at least six hours.

To Make the Ganache:

  1. Place the chopped chocolate in a medium bowl.
  2. Bring the cream to a low simmer in a small saucepan and pour half the cream over the chocolate pieces.
  3. Set aside for two minutes.
  4. Whisk the melted chocolate/cream mix into the remaining cream.
  5. Whisk carefully until it’s smooth and glossy.
  6. Add the butter and stir the mixture with a spatula until the butter’s melted, then fold in the espresso powder.
  7. Set aside half a cup of the ganache until needed and pour the rest over the chilled cheesecake.
  8. Sprinkle the cheesecake with the chocolate shavings and set aside for one hour.
  9. Place the remaining ganache into a piping bag and pipe stars around the edge of the cheesecake. Top each star with a coffee bean.

To serve, slice the chilled cheesecake with a sharp knife. Wipe the blade clean after each slice.

You can store this dessert in the refrigerator for up to four days, so it’s a great make-ahead option.

Visit Your Favorite Comic Books Real-Life Locations

Go visit your favorite superheroes with a trip to one of these not so fictional cities from your favorite comic books.

Published

on

Reading comic books is always a great time. There is so much action and adventure that most of us have been burning through these action-packed storyboards since we were kids. A lot of people love the mystery and imagining their favorite hero’s world entirely. Others, however, would like to experience what exactly these destinations look like in real life. Where is Gotham? What does Metropolis really look like? Well, now you can find out because through films or hints we’ve been given through the illustrations and the interviews the creators of these wonderful comic books have given we can now surmiser where a lot of these amazing locations actually are. So go visit your favorite superheroes with a trip to one of these not so fictional cities from your favorite comic books.

Batman – Chicago
That’s right, the Windy City is where Bruce Wayne resides and spends a huge amount of time protecting. A lot of people wrongly assume that Gotham is based on New York City but they’re wrong, Chicago is actually the home of Batman. This is why Christopher Nolan filmed his trilogy in the long history of Batman films in this super awesome city. You can see a lot that Gotham and Chicago have in common and you may even see a bat or two. If you don’t sniff out Bruce Wayne’s manor or the Joker’s Asylum then just hang out and enjoy a delicious Chicago hot dog. After that Batman won’t be your superhero, Tums will.

Wonder Woman – Mediterranean Sea
If you want to head to PAradise Island then head out to the Mediterranean. Maybe that is why the new Wonder Woman is played by the Israeli Gal Gadot. Themyscira, also known as Paradise Island is not given an exact location but since she is Amazonian royalty it is thought that the Mediterranean Sea is where this awesome island resides. Head over there, because let’s face it, every island in the Mediterranean is a paradise island. Right?

Black Panther – East Africa
Black Panther is an awesome new superhero with a film coming out in 2018. Black Panther is a super popular hero and was actually the first black superhero from Marvel Comics. He is a character that everyone loves and his awesome fighting skills make him extremely exciting. He lives in the city of Wakanda which is a fictional city but is also an insanely technologically advanced one. If you ask the author Ta-Nehisi Coats, he would tell you that the Black Panther lives in East Africa somewhere along Lake Victoria which sounds pretty sweet to us.

Superman – New York City
Metropolis is named after the Big Apple. This makes sense considering Superman is the one you would want watching over a giant urban area like New York City. The skyline of the original Metropolis was actually modeled after Toronto, but in future adaptations, the city slowly morphed into New York City. Does this mean Superman is hanging out with Carrie, Samantha and the gang? Only a trip to Metropolis will tell you for sure.

Issues That Can Arise When You Travel Constantly For Your Job

Published

on

By

Traveling for your job is something that some people dread and others really enjoy. Getting into the right routine when you visit a city frequently can be a huge part of enjoying your time in the city. Missing family and friends could be an issue that is always a drawback of traveling for work. Employers are still having employees travel to events and to client meetings even though they can be handled virtually. The importance of client entertainment cannot be understated as building a personal rapport with clients can increase client loyalty. The following are issues that can arise when you are constantly traveling for your job.

Parking Or Driving Citations

Parking tickets or traffic citations can accumulate. Driving in a new city can be tough especially when a city is known for its overly aggressive drivers. Traffic violation defense lawyers in the area might be able to have the fine reduced or the ticket completely dropped. You do not want to have issues renting a car due to forgetting about a ticket that leads to your license being suspended.

Rejuvenating During Your Time Off Might Be Tough

Traveling is something that you need to recover from. Traveling for weeks can be something that is very difficult due to living out of suitcases. Your days off could be full of sleeping as the last thing you want to do is take a trip for any reason. Enjoying your time off should be something that you make a priority. You can even rejuvenate on trips you are taking as planning a day for yourself can be a nice treat. You might have a meeting or two but will have downtime when traveling for business.

Getting Sick Might Be A Regular Occurrence

Heading to a variety of climates can be tough on the immune system. Airplanes are notorious for being spaces where people get sick due to their confined nature. You are going to need to be very careful when it comes to your health. You should hydrate and make sure you are getting enough sleep although this can be a challenge in a hotel. Taking a multivitamin along with understanding your body is important. Do not push too hard when you are feeling a bit unwell as this can lead to full-blown sickness.

Employers Trying To Put You In Subpar Accommodations

Employers that attempt to put you in subpar accommodations need to be addressed. You don’t want to have to drive an hour in heavy traffic from a hotel simply because it was a few dollars more per night. Most companies will accommodate a top performer quite well in comparison to an employee that has been struggling for a long period of time. There are even some employers that will just set a budget and then allow you to book the trip. Booking the trip and then being reimbursed can allow you to accumulate so many airline miles that you might travel for free personally for years.

Traveling for work can be a blast if you manage your trips appropriately. Take the time to use the tips above to avoid issues and navigate them efficiently.
