Where to Stay in Lisbon
Well, we talked to our staff who is absolutely nuts about Lisbon and they gave us their favorite neighborhoods where they have stayed and they highly recommend that you stay there as well.
So you bought a ticket to the Portuguese capital of Lisbon, but other than knowing it’s the capital of Portugal, you really don’t know much about the city. Baixa & Rossio
When you stay in either Baxia or Rossio, you are staying in the heart of downtown amongst many of Lisbon’s best-known landmarks, so these neighborhoods are a great choice because they are just so dang convenient. But the benefits of staying in Baixa and Rossio don’t end there. These streets are littered with delectable restaurants and the shopping of a lifetime.
Bairro Alto
If you’re looking to spend your nights out then the buzzing Bairro Alto is for you. Around here there are a ton of super fun bars where you can spend your nights dancing the night away. But not just bars, you will also find fantastic food, coffee, and even some tattoo parlors if you’re looking for a way to memorialize your epic Lisbon trip.
This neighborhood is hilly and has a very authentic bohemian vibe, if you’re looking for some fun weekends then Bairro Alto is for you.
Alfama
Alfama is actually the oldest part of Lisbon and it is the most traditional, as well. If you want to get a feel for old Lisbon then staying here is your best bet. While the streets around here might be a bit confusing, this is one part of town you don’t mind getting lost in. Pop into a restaurant for a traditional meal. Listen to fado, which is as old as Lisbon itself. Come see Lisbon at its most romantic.
Alcântara
This river side neighborhood is absolutely gorgeous. There are plenty of great restaurants and bars right alongside the river in what is known as Docas. Also, you can experience the artsy side of Lisbon when you see amazing converted factories that now house awesome stores and even more great restaurants.
Príncipe Real
Do Portugal in style in Príncipe Real, a super hip neighborhood that is full of class and definitely hifalutin. You will love the beautiful gardens and the fun stores. This is a quieter neighborhood as it is more residential than the others, but the vibe makes it super cool and fun.
Parque das Nações
Lisbon of the future, Parque das Nações is a fun modern place you will love to stay. This neighborhood was actually built for the World Exposition of 1998. You will be right on the water here and will have a bunch of fun bars and restaurants everywhere.
It doesn’t matter if you go to the Lisbon of the past in Alfama or the Lisbon of the future in Parque das Nacoes because anytime you’re in Lisbon you’re having a good time.
