Satisfy Your Wild Side With A Safari

There are many great safaris in the world, but these are six of the best… according to our experts.

Published

on

Everyone should experience a safari at least once in their lifetime. It’s one amazing adventure… But there are several wonderful options to pick from – so it may be hard to know which ones are worth considering.

Well, look no further! Here are the absolute six best safaris you can find from around the world.

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (TANZANIA)

The Serengeti is probably one of the most popular places to go on a safari, and it’s on the top of the list for a reason. On any given game drive you could encounter wildebeests, buffaloes, leopards, lions, rhinos, giraffes, and elephants within a couple of hours of each other. Not to mention Tanzania also offers gorgeous beaches.

VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (RWANDA)

If you want to live like Jane Goodall on your next vacation, then a safari in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda is the place for you! There are gorillas (including plenty of babies) galore in Rwanda, aka “the land of a thousand hills.” And a guided trek through the jungles of Volcanoes National Park is a great option for those that like to take the path less traveled and get a proper nature experience under their belt.

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK (SOUTH AFRICA)

This is an ideal trip for the newlyweds and lovers out there. Kruger National Park is the most famous and popular park in South Africa, and there are multiple safari packages that equally value the love-struck couple and natural wildlife. You can even take a self-driving tour if you really want some privacy. And aside from the beautiful wildlife, this park also offers powerful rivers and beautiful lakes.

OKAVANGO DELTA (BOTSWANA)

If lions and zebras and elephants aren’t your thing, then head on over to the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Here you can take in a water safari on the swamps and rivers and catch a glimpse of some truly massive hippos. There are also plenty of luxurious and pamper-heavy accommodations in the area for you to get your relaxation on.

YALE NATIONAL PARK (SRI LANKA)

Yale National Park in Sri Lanka is a sneaky alternative to take in a great safari if, for whatever reason, you don’t want to go to Africa. But make no mistake, this beautiful park still offers views just as amazing and all the wildlife you can handle including leopards, elephants, deer, bears, and even adorable sloths! And similar to Tanzania, Sri Lanka also has many beautiful beaches that are ideal for a great vacation.

MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE (KENYA)

This breathtaking park is the final destination of over a million wildebeest every year that migrate there all the way from the Serengeti in Tanzania, a journey that is known as “The Great Migration.”

But what makes the end of their migration so compelling, is when they reach Maasai Mara National Reserve and the hippo and crocodile-infested Mara River. Not to mention the Hyenas and lions that are waiting for them on land. The migration happens between July and October every year and is definitely a must-see.

Summer vacation is around the corner and it’s time to start planning your trips. Are you tired of the same old overcrowded destinations? So are we, so let’s explore some great summer vacations that are less busy and allow you to fully relax.  You won’t find traffic jams, long lines and tourist traps at any of these destinations. Instead you can relax, enjoy some peace and quiet while having the time of your lives.

Bocas del Toro, Panama

Panama is situated right between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans so you have twice the amount of coastal choices as most vacation spots. If you are looking for a real chill vibe with some beautiful scenery, look no further than the tiny island of Boca del Toro. Located in the Caribbean Sea with none of the crazy crowds found in nearby Jamaica or Dominican Republic. Check out the awesome National Marine Park and swim with more varieties of fish than you knew existed. This island is very cheap as well and backpacker friendly. If you are looking for a budget Caribbean vacation, you found it buddies.

Antigua

Another Caribbean gem is Antigua, an Eastern Caribbean dream destination. If you fancy yourself a water sport enthusiast, Antigua is your spot. Snorkel or scuba dive in one of the most awe inspiring locations, Stingray Bay, where thousands of beautiful rays live. It’s so bizarre that this place hasn’t blown up with tourist yet. Check out the old school Caribbean buildings in English Harbor.

St. Croix, US Virgin Islands

Yam on, right near the beach in St. Croix. Check out incredible beaches, casinos and some of the best food you can find with none of the crazy crowds of nearby Puerto Rico. Summer is their off-season so enjoy paradise on a budget as you can find amazing deals and better hotels than you’ll find on nearby islands.

Akajima, Japan

Visit Asia and actually feel like you are in Asia. Many Japanese destination have been Westernized so you lose some of the ethnic flare. Akajima is different, located in the Kerama Island chain on the West side of Japan; most of its tourists are Japanese.  There are great beaches and tons of outdoor activities for the entire family.

St. Vincent & Grenadines

This tiny island group is located just south of St. Lucia and has been a well-kept secret for years. This year they opened up a new International Airport so getting here is much easier. St. Vincent is the busiest of the islands, so check out the smaller ones for more privacy and better deals. Remember, they just opened the airport so they will be offering crazy deals to let people know.

Bonaire

If you know the Caribbean, you know the ABC islands, Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. Bonaire is the Rodney Dangerfield of these islands it gets no respect. That is a shame because of these three; Bonaire is by far my favorite. It’s a great summer destination for two reasons: it’s the offseason and it’s in the southern tip of the hurricane zone, so it’s rarely affected.

If you seek fun in the sun with none of the annoying crowds, these destinations should be on top of your list.

What Do You Need to Know About Interoperability and Healthcare APIs?

Published

on

By

Healthcare APIs

The fundamental objective and concerns of the healthcare sector have always been to provide patients with high-quality care and treatment. Every year, new technology developments are introduced that further simplify the healthcare procedure. Interoperability is one of these more recent terms in the health ecosystem.

Interoperability: What Is It?

It hasn’t been simple to compel healthcare professionals to convert from paper to electronic health records. Interoperability was created as a result of the gaps and fragmented communication that resulted from this.

Interoperability is defined by HIMSS as the ability of various hardware, software, and information systems to reliably connect, access, share, and use data within and outside of the organizational boundary with authorized users.

Interoperability provides for connectivity and integrations in a safe and secure framework, making the data accessible for usage and sharing without the end-user interfering with the process, with the purpose of providing improved therapy to the patient.

Regardless of the practices, labs, healthcare providers, pharmacies, or hospitals, interoperability aims to provide the healthcare organization a comprehensive picture of the patient-related information.

In contrast to the past, HIMSS has identified four routes for data to interact inside a single healthcare setting:

FUNDAMENTAL:
As the name implies, fundamental interoperability is in charge of setting up the framework for data flow and exchange across various organizations. It establishes the fundamental conditions for information transmission and reception.

STRUCTURAL:
The structural interoperability determines how a data will be transported across the systems in order to preserve its integrity and provide security.

ORGANIZATIONAL:
Organizational interoperability, which consists of both organizational and technological elements, guarantees the secure, efficient, and timely interchange and consumption of information across the healthcare organization.

SEMANTIC:
Semantic interoperability enables the system to interchange, understand, and utilize the data by using both the structure and the coding of the data.

Although the motivation for this change is clear, interoperability has many more advantages.

TOP-NOTCH CARE:

Because the provider does not have complete patient-related information, the lack of an integrated healthcare IT system has caused significant delays in patient treatment. Interoperability, which allows for the visibility and availability of patient data including symptoms, medical billing history, problems, treatments, etc., aids in providing high-quality care. The care coordination improves the patient’s experience by relieving them of the responsibility of handling the majority of the administrative responsibilities.

IMPROVED SAFETY:
One of the major obstacles to a healthcare facility’s efficient operation is missing or incomplete data. Interoperability makes it easier for data to be captured and interpreted consistently across the healthcare system, reducing the chance of mistake. This will aid them even more in recognizing and avoiding the procedural error that causes the result error.

INFORMATION SYSTEM COHESIVE INTERACTION:
Interoperability has made it easier for patients and clinicians to obtain reliable public health data. Healthcare organizations have discovered a platform to educate the public about the impending health problem so that they are ready to address it via the exchange and analysis of data enabled by interoperability.

LOWER COST:
Time spent looking for and skimming through patient data is now saved because to interoperability’s capacity to simplify, share, and use data throughout the healthcare business. resulting in increased production and decreased healthcare costs.

PATIENT-DOCTOR PRIVACY IS MAINTAINED:

The clinical staff’s requirement to manually update the patient records was reduced thanks to an electronic data management system, lowering the risk of mistakes. Maintaining interoperability may help protect the right to patient-doctor confidentiality, which is often compromised by manual processing.

With application programming interfaces that let data transmission and communication across various information systems, interoperability enables the aforementioned advantages as well as additional ones.

Data transmission and reception between systems are made possible through API. This API makes it easier to build reports by updating individual records or supplying data in bulk.

Additionally, API enables accurate information synchronization between the facility, the insurance provider, and the provider of care in order to reduce delays in the course of treatment owing to time spent determining the patient’s eligibility for coverage.

Every department at a single healthcare institution is using data from a distinct electronic health record system, unlike the days of phone calls and fax machines. The data is dispersed throughout the many divisions due to the complexity of the healthcare industry.

Hospitals and doctors must have a comprehensive clinical picture of the patient, including their history, allergies, and problems, which has become foggy due to the proliferation of EHRs. API frameworks serve as a link between these diverse EHR systems and provide a useful data interchange across the healthcare system. As a result, you save a lot of time and money.

Since APIs are still in their infancy, there are a number of issues that must be resolved for improved results, including:

The absence of data standards in the healthcare industry and the availability of several technologies have increased the need for a tailored API for the varied services it offers to different systems.

The extract, convert, and load script will need to be updated as soon as new data sources are available, because technology is always changing. It becomes expensive and time-consuming as a result.

It may be difficult to ensure sufficient interchange and synchronization of complex healthcare data across various healthcare systems, which ultimately has an impact on the outcomes.

How can you make your organization’s healthcare system more interoperable?

It is crucial for providers to do research and develop solutions that improve connection across various healthcare organizations and healthcare exchange systems in light of the transformation to a value-driven healthcare environment.

Similar to this, you must promptly reevaluate the IT tools and strategies you have been using to ensure that they meet the demands of value-based care and foster interoperability at the structural, semantic, and fundamental levels.

To increase interoperability and provide more accurate and secure health data sharing, every procedure linked to patient health information, including data collecting, formatting, and conversion, should be standardized.

Although interoperability and API still have a way to go, all parts of the healthcare organization share equal responsibility for their success or failure.

Budget Friendly Travel Tips

We all want to travel the globe but how can we when travel is so expensive?  Here are some easy and simple tips to traveling on a budget and getting the most out of your vacation.

Published

on

We all want to travel the globe but how can we when travel is so expensive?  Simple, travel with budget in mind and you can stretch your dollar to the max. Here are some easy and simple tips to traveling on a budget and getting the most out of your vacation.

Learn about currency

When traveling to foreign lands, the currency conversion can really screw people over, especially if you don’t know what stuff should cost. Knowing what normal stuff costs like taxi fares and groceries will save you money and frustration. But mainly it will keep you from getting ripped off, which is very common. Travelers often have no idea how much a cab ride from the airport to a resort should cost so they usually over pay.

Luggage scale

A luggage scale is a cheap buy that can save you huge in baggage fees. If you are anything like my wife and constantly over pack, you need a luggage scale. You could just learn to pack light but we all know that’s crazy talk.

Prepare your own food

Eating out every meal really adds up and can make a cheap vacation turn into a budget buster quickly. When I travel I tend to eat out only a few times and make lunches and breakfast on the go. This will save you major bucks and make the meals you eat out much more special.

Bring water filter

A good water filter can save you money and keep you from getting sick. Water isn’t always the same everywhere you go. In many third world countries the water isn’t as clean as more developed countries, so you may get sick drinking the water.

Buy a nice water filter and a refillable water bottle to save you big bucks and keep you from spending the entire trip on the toilet.

Comfy walking shoes

Choosing the right shoes for your trip is essential, so make sure they are comfortable and suitable for the terrain you will be walking on. Basically don’t pack flip-flops if you are going to a cold area or don’t pack high heels if you are going to the jungle.   Walking will not only allow you to see more of the area you are traveling but it can save you money on taxis.

Bring food

Airports allow you to travel with food so pack a lunch, some snacks and keep your wallet in your pocket. I’ll bring plenty of snacks in my carry-on because food at airports is ridiculously overpriced. I’m not telling you to bring your entire pantry full of food but instead just bring some snacks and maybe a sandwich.

Check fine print

Always check the fine print especially with airlines and hotels, they will try and sneak charges past you. If you want to save big bucks on your trip, make sure you aren’t getting screwed in the process.

Cheaper accommodations

Hotels and resorts are quite expensive so maybe look for alternatives to the standard hotel room. Websites like AirBnb.com and Couchsurfing.com have made travel much more affordable. Hostels are also great ways to save money. Think about it, you don’t go on vacation to spend time in your room, all I need is a nice bed and a shower and I’m a happy camper.

Alternative modes of transportation

Airplanes aren’t the only way to travel and usually are much more expensive over alternatives. Trains, busses and boats are often cheaper and more of an adventure so find your alternatives to airplanes.

Flexible with flights

Be flexible with your travel schedule and your flights won’t be so expensive.   Certain days are cheaper to fly than others so figure that out and save mucho dinero.

Chose a budget friendly destination

Paris is expensive so instead maybe check out Croatia, both cool destinations but one will break your budget while the other is budget friendly.

Travel for cheap isn’t as hard as it used to be, so get out there and find your adventure on your budget.
